West Ham United midfielder Lucas Paqueta has been linked with a move away from the East London club in recent weeks.
According to a report by Sky Sports journalist Kaveh Solhekol, Lucas Paqueta wants to rejoin Brazilian club Flamengo this month, and he has already informed West Ham United of his desire. However, the Hammers do not want to lose him in the middle of the season.
The East London outfit are prepared to sanction Paqueta’s sale in January, but they want the Brazilian club to let him stay in England on loan until the end of the season. The South American midfielder will not force an exit from West Ham this month, and he is happy to wait until the summer. It will be interesting to see if all parties can finalise an agreement quickly.
There is no doubt that the 28-year-old is a key player for West Ham, and losing him midway through the 2025/26 would be a devastating blow. The Irons are in the middle of a relegation dogfight, and they need their best players, wihch includes Lucas Paqueta.
The Brazilian midfielder, who cost West Ham £51 million, including add-ons, is undoubtedly one of the best players at the East London club, and they simply cannot afford to lose him. Nuno Espirito Santo’s men have already struggled in the final third this season, and they cannot afford to lose one of their main sources of creativity.
Meanwhile, the Brazilian is determined to return to his homeland, and he hopes to wrap up the move to Flamengo quickly. The former AC Milan playmaker has shown his quality in the Premier League, and he is looking to return to his comfort zone now.
Lucas Paqueta has previously been linked with a move away from West Ham United, and Manchester City were mentioned as potential suitors. However, there is no interest from the Premier League bigwigs this time around.
The Brazilian International is still very much at the peak of his career, and it is quite surprising for him to return to South America right now. The 28-year-old has the quality to play for the country’s biggest clubs, and he could have easily joined a top team competing for major trophies.
