AS Roma are front-runners to sign Tottenham outcast Radu Dragusin, who is available for around €25-30 million.
Despite not having a prominent role at Tottenham and hardly playing any football in the first half of the season, the interest in Radu Dragusin’s services remains as high as ever. He is attracting a lot of interest in the ongoing transfer window, and a return to the Serie A looks increasingly likely.
According to a report from CaughtOffside, AS Roma are currently leading the race to sign the Romanian international, who has played for Italian clubs Juventus, Genoa and Sampdoria back in the day.
On the back of his impressive performances for Genoa, Tottenham secured his services at the start of 2024. While Spurs had massive expectations from the 23-year-old centre-back, he hasn’t been able to establish himself as an important part of their first team.
The versatile defender has struggled to get regular game time, and he seems to have gone way down the pecking order under Thomas Frank. Dragusin has only had five minutes of first-team action so far this term.
Since he is no longer an important part of their plans, the Romanian defender is pushing for a move away despite the fact that his contract runs until 2030. He wants to return to the Serie A, where he had a lot of success in the past.
AS Roma are making moves for Dragusin
While multiple Italian clubs are after his signature, Roma are currently leading the chase. They have already made the first concrete move to secure his services, as they have put forward a loan deal with an option to buy.
However, Tottenham have turned it down, as they remain firm on their stance, they want a permanent transfer worth €25-30 million. They believe his age, his massive potential and past performances in the Serie A justify the high asking price.
They have no intentions of accepting a loan move and want a permanent solution right away. Meanwhile, Dragusin is desperate to secure a return and is willing to take a significant pay cut (currently earning roughly €3 million) to make it happen.
While multiple Italian clubs are after him, Roma could face stiff competition from his former Juventus, who have recently entered the race for the 23-year-old. They view him as a bargain option to bolster their defence.
