Aston Villa are ready to explore a move for Ferran Torres and are willing to table a €60 million offer for the Barcelona star.
According to Fichajes, Barcelona could receive an offer worth €60 million from Aston Villa for the signature of Ferran Torres. The Spanish attacker remains a key part of Hansi Flick’s side, although the financial realities could see them think about a sale, especially if Aston Villa were to come through with the said offer.
Ferran Torres has been largely inconsistent for Barcelona since his high-profile move from Manchester City. He was one of former manager Xavi Hernandez’s first signings at the club, but the attacker has only flourished under the tutelage of Hansi Flick.
While turning up in many big occasions last season, Torres has become a key part of the team this season, and one of their important goal scorers, particularly in La Liga. However, the financial realities of Barcelona could see the club consider looking at a big enough offer, as Aston Villa are ready to reignite their chase, after failing to convince the winger in the summer.
Unai Emery is looking for wide attackers as well as a striker in this window, as Torres could fit into both positions with ease. The 25-year-old in-form Barcelona star’s versatility makes him a solid player to have, with Aston Villa now ready to pay around €60 million to secure the Spaniard.
Torres is not the only player on their agenda, as Atletico Madrid’s Thiago Almada is also a target for this month, among a few others. Moreover, Aston Villa may not be the only interested party, as Newcastle United were also keen on the 25-year-old in-form Barcelona star earlier, and it remains to be seen whether they enter the race.
Will Barcelona sell Ferran Torres?
The offer worth €60 million may sound reasonable enough, but there are questions about whether it would test Barcelona’s resolve in ideal conditions. However, the Catalans are still facing monetary issues and may need big sales to balance their act, which could see them consider a bid should Aston Villa come through with their offer.
The ultimate decision may lie with Torres, with the Spaniard contracted at Barcelona until the summer of 2027. It remains to be seen whether the Catalans are open to the idea, particularly if Torres is open to making a return to the Premier League, as Aston Villa will certainly want to add a player of the Spaniard’s quality this month if an opportunity arises.
