Liverpool plotting club-record move for Jude Bellingham

Liverpool are reportedly plotting a club-record move to sign Jude Bellingham, but faces big challenges ahead in this pursuit.

According to Fichajes, Jude Bellingham remains a big target for Liverpool, who ar reportedly planning a club-record bid for the England international. There are obvious challenges ahead despite the report stating a €180 million bid could be on the cards, as Real Madrid may not want to sell their star man.

Liverpool were considered one of the big suitors for Jude Bellingham when he was part of the Borussia Dortmund team. Even before he joined Real Madrid in a big deal back then, the Merseysiders were thought to be in the mix, and may have tried to lure him before he made the switch to the Santiago Bernabeu.

Bellingham has been a rousing success at the Bernabeu, helping the club win the Champions League in his very first season. He has established himself as a key star at the club, and continues to be under the new boss Xabi Alonso, which does make the prospect of Real Madrid even considering an offer for the English midfielder difficult.

There are quite a lot of English sides interested in the attacking midfielder, including Liverpool. Chelsea are prepared to make a big-money bid if they receive encouragement about signing the England international in the near future, while Manchester United are also in the same boat.

Liverpool are now considering re-entering the race and are reportedly prepared to make a club-record bid worth €180 million for the 22-year-old Real Madrid star. Such an investment will resonate with their recent activity in the market, as they broke their club record twice in the summer, on Florian Wirtz and then Alexander Isak.

Will Real Madrid sell Jude Bellingham?

As much as the €180 million reported in the story might represent a generous offer from Liverpool, Real Madrid are unlikely to flinch. The story makes it clear that Florentino Perez is not interested in putting money ahead of the sporting project, and in the case of the latter, the 22-year-old Real Madrid star is a key aspect of their long-term plans.

Hence, the club-record offer, should it arrive from Liverpool, may not persuade Real Madrid into parting ways with Bellingham. Moreover, the 22-year-old Real Madrid star has previously shown no interest in joining a Premier League side, and remains happy with life in Madrid at the moment.
