Wolverhampton Wanderers are reportedly unwilling to entertain any offers for 18-year-old English youth international Mateus Mane in the winter transfer window.
According to a report by TEAMtalk, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Manchester United are keen on signing Mateus Mane. The Premier League bigwigs have closely tracked the youngster’s progress, and they have submitted enquiries for a possible move. However, Wolverhampton Wanderers are unwilling to entertain bids for the 18-year-old in the winter transfer window.
Who is Mateus Mane?
Mateus Mane has been a rare bright spot in a dreadful campaign for Wolverhampton Wanderers. Born in Barreiro, the teenage sensation began his youth career in Portugal before moving to England by joining AFC Rochdale in 2016. However, the Englishman graduated from the youth division at Wolverhampton Wanderers, having been with the club since March 2024.
While Mane made his senior bow for Wolves towards the end of the 2024/25 season, he has enjoyed his breakthrough under Rob Edwards after making his first start last month. The 18-year-old has already scored twice and provided two assists in only 447 minutes of game time in the Premier League this term. So, it is hardly surprising that bigwigs like Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Manchester United are interested in the English youth international.
A man in demand
At Arsenal, Mikel Arteta has a stacked offensive unit with three strikers. However, Gabriel Jesus faces an uncertain future at the Emirates beyond the 2025/26 season. So, pursuing a teenage prospect like Mane is understandable. As for Chelsea, Liam Delap has struggled to make his mark since arriving from Ipswich Town, while Joao Pedro has been inconsistent.
However, considering the West London club’s penchant for constantly following the world’s best young prospects, it makes sense that Mateus Mane has emerged as a target. Meanwhile, Liverpool’s interest in the teenage sensation is somewhat surprising. However, Mane’s versatility makes him an appealing target amid uncertainties surrounding Mohamed Salah’s long-term future.
As for Manchester United, with Joshua Zirkzee facing an uncertain future at Old Trafford and pushing for a January departure, the Red Devils can do with a long-term replacement. While an experienced striker would be ideal for Manchester United, Mane can be a long-term solution in the final third.
However, a January departure is not on the cards, as Wolverhampton Wanderers are not ready to entertain any offers for the 18-year-old English international. It will be interesting to see if the rumours surrounding Mane resurface in the summer transfer window.
