AS Roma will reportedly look to sign 23-year-old Romanian international Radu Dragusin from Tottenham Hotspur in the winter transfer window.
According to a report by reputed Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Radu Dragusin is the subject of interest from AS Roma. The Serie A giants are keen on reinforcing their defensive unit by signing a centre-back in the winter transfer window. So, the 23-year-old Tottenham centre-back has emerged as a target for Giallorossi.
The latest report has revealed that the Italian heavyweights have accelerated their move for the Bucharest native, and “new contacts have been held” to finalise the deal in the ongoing transfer window. However, it is unclear if the out-of-favour Tottenham defender is ready to join AS Roma this month.
How has Radu Dragusin fared at Tottenham?
Radu Dragusin has not been impressive since joining Tottenham Hotspur from Genoa in a deal in €30 million worth January 2024. The youngster was among the best young prospects in Serie A during his spell with Genoa. However, he has struggled to become a regular for the North London club. Additionally, a long-term knee injury kept the 23-year-old in the treatment room for most of 2025.
Dragusin has managed only 38 appearances thus far for Tottenham, amassing 2,609 minutes of game time. However, the Romanian defender’s stock remains high, and a return to Serie A may be on the cards. AS Roma will be among the prospective suitors vying for the young defender’s signature in the winter transfer window.
Serie A return on the horizon?
AS Roma’s interest in Radu Dragusin makes sense. While Gian Piero Gasperini has several centre-backs in his squad, he wants more options for the central defensive unit to sustain the challenge of competing for the Serie A title after losing Evan Ndicka for a few weeks due to the Africa Cup of Nations. Additionally, Gasperini’s men have slipped up in their recent outings.
Several candidates, including Axel Disasi, have thus emerged on AS Roma’s radar, with Dragusin also a viable target. The latest report has revealed that the Serie A giants have accelerated their move to sign the 23-year-old Romanian international in the winter transfer window, and “new contacts have been held” to finalise a deal.
Meanwhile, recent reports have linked Dragusin with several other Serie A clubs, although he is reluctant to join Fiorentina. With AS Roma ramping up the efforts to sign the youngster, it will be interesting to see if he returns to Serie A by moving to Stadio Olimpico this month.
