Sheffield Wednesday are pushing hard to extend Manchester United sensation Harry Amass’s loan deal until the end of the season.
While Sheffield Wednesday find themselves bottom of the points table in the EFL Championship and things have hardly gone in their favour, Manchester United loanee Harry Amass has certainly stood out for them with his impressive performances.
Survival looks next to impossible for them, but they are still keen on putting up a fight in the second half of the season. The Championship outfit are keen on ensuring Harry Amass continues at the club until the end of the season. According to a report from Football Insider, Sheffield Wednesday are in talks with the Red Devils to extend his loan spell.
Harry Amass joined Manchester United’s youth setup in the summer of 2023 from Watford, and he has only gone from strength to strength since. The teenage prospect was promoted to their first team at the start of 2025, and in order to ensure he gets regular game time, the Red Devils ended up sending him out on a short loan spell to Sheffield Wednesday.
Sheffield want to extend Amass’ loan spell
During his time at the Championship club, the 18-year-old full-back has been involved in 21 league fixtures and has even contributed towards two goals. While the Owls have struggled, Harry Amass has certainly shown a lot of promise.
The teenager’s loan deal expired following Sheffield Wednesday’s 3-0 loss to QPR last Sunday. However, it seems he could continue at the English second division club until the end of the season. They are desperate to have him around and are already holding talks to extend his stay at the club.
While Manchester United’s initial plans were to bring him back to the club, they could actually let him continue at Hillsborough, as he has been a regular starter for them, and the game time has certainly helped his development. It will be interesting to see if the Owls can convince Manchester United as well as the young defender to extend his stay.
