Oscar Mingueza could be available for €8-10 million in January

Aston Villa, Newcastle United and West Ham United can sign former Barcelona defender Oscar Mingueza for €8-10 million in January.

With Oscar Mingueza’s contract at Celta Vigo running out at the end of the season, his future has become a massive talking point in the ongoing transfer window. The Spanish club are ready to sanction his departure for a reasonable price, and multiple English clubs see this as a great opportunity.

According to a report from CaughtOffside, Aston Villa, Newcastle United and West Ham United are all keen on signing the 26-year-old, who could be available for a bargain fee of just €8-10 million in the ongoing transfer window.

Mingueza came up the ranks at Barcelona. While he got promoted to their first team towards the end of 2020, he didn’t have the desired impact at the Catalan club and ended up joining Celta Vigo in the summer of 2022.

The Spanish right-back has been an integral part of their team since the start. He has featured in 121 matches and has even contributed towards 19 goals. His ability to feature on either flank as a full-back as well as wing-back certainly comes in handy for Celta.

While he remains an integral part of their first team, his future is up in the air as he has entered the final six months of his contract. Since he could run down his deal and leave for free, Celta are open to a potential transfer in the ongoing window as long as they receive a decent fee.

Premier League trio want Mingueza

In England, West Ham, Newcastle and Aston Villa are actively monitoring him as they consider him an ideal fit for the Premier League. His versatility and strong physical ability could certainly come in handy.

The Hammers have been keeping tabs on him for months, as they feel he could significantly bolster their backline and, more importantly, have an immediate impact. Meanwhile, Villa are preparing a long-term deal for the 26-year-old, a contract that runs until 2030, as they seek more quality on the flanks.

Newcastle are also keen on his signature and can certainly have the edge thanks to their financial strength. They are willing to offer him a wage package significantly above his current terms in Spain.

He is expected to be available for around €8-10 million, as Celta are expected to be quite flexible, given he could decide to run down his deal and leave for free next summer. Given the bargain price tag, the Premier League trio are set to battle it out for his signature.
