Brighton & Hove Albion are not planning on selling Carlos Baleba for less than their £100 million valuation of the player amid Manchester United’s persistent interest.
According to Fichajes, Brighton & Hove Albion are not expected to value Carlos Baleba for less than £100 million, amid growing interest in the market. The Seagulls are not planning on reducing the asking rate moving ahead, although they might not be open to the idea of a January sale.
Carlos Baleba was a big target for Manchester United in the final weeks of the summer transfer window, with the Red Devils ultimately withdrawing from the race. There are two key reasons for their decision, with Brighton’s asking price thought to be £100 million or more and their unwillingness to sell the midfielder being key.
The Cameroonian midfielder, who is currently away at AFCON, was expected to attract interest in January, with some reports stating the Seagulls could even reduce his asking price. Brighton are not thinking about a sale, nor are they planning to lower their £100 million valuation for the African midfielder.
Brighton are adamant on their valuation and will only entertain proposals crossing the £100 million mark, as Manchester United have retained their interest. Given the Seagulls are expected to maintain a strong stance on Carlos Baleba’s future, a January deal for the Red Devils may seem unlikely.
However, Baleba is seen as a long-term target as Manchester United are eager to shape their midfield ranks for the years ahead. While they might be open to exploring a move in January, the conditions make it very difficult to get the 22-year-old midfielder.
Will Brighton sell Carlos Baleba?
Brighton have not had the best of campaigns, and they might eventually struggle to nail down a European place at the end of it. Should they fail again to reach one of the continental competitions, it could spark another big sale of a player, which might as well be Baleba.
Brioghton are sticking with their valuation of Carlos Baleba, meaning they are either going to demand very close to the £100 million mark in the summer. For the present, the Cameroonian midfielder is extremely crucial for the remainder of the season, and they will hope he returns from the AFCON unscathed.
