Atletico Madrid have joined the chase for Ruben Neves, with Arsenal and Manchester United also interested in the Portuguese midfielder.
According to Fichajes, Atletico Madrid are the latest team to enter the race to sign Ruben Neves. Arsenal and Manchester United are also in the mix, with the Al-Hilal midfielder’s attractive availability pulling these clubs towards him, either for a January move or in the summer.
Ruben Neves represents a big market opportunity for some of the big clubs looking into the market for a proven midfielder. The Al-Hilal star is coming to the end of his deal, which expires next summer, allowing some renowned clubs to make their case, either ahead of the January transfer window. Alternatively, a Bosman move in the summer is a possibility.
There is no indication on whether Neves will sign a new deal at Al-Hilal, with plenty of reports suggesting he could angle for a move back to Europe or England. Manchester United are among the many teams previously eager to explore a move in January, given he could be available for a price much lower than his market value.
While Manchester United may only consider him as a contingency option to some of their other top midfield targets, Ruben Neves remains a firm name on their shortlist of players ahead of January. A report stated he was offered to Arsenal, and the current story states the Gunners have enquired about his availability without making it clear whether that is for January or the summer.
Either way, the 28-year-old Portuguese international is free to hold talks with interested parties in January, either to move now or on a Bosman move in the summer. Atletico Madrid are the latest to enter the race, as Diego Simeone might eye Neves’s availability as a big market opportunity.
Atletico Madrid to join Ruben Neves race?
Atletico Madrid could allow Conor Gallagher to leave the club this month amid growing interest from the Premier League. They are now considering entering the race for Neves, given his availability this month as well as next summer.
Los Rojiblancos are ideally angling for a free transfer of the 28-year-old Portuguese international next summer, but they are prepared to bring any deal forward in January by negotiating with Al-Hilal. Neves, for his part, could be eager to make a return to Europe, as the project on hand will be important, while clubs may not be willing to pay what he is currently earning at Al-Hilal.
