Thomas Frank’s Tottenham are willing to do everything in their power to sign FC Porto attacking sensation Samu Aghehowa.
Samu Aghehowa has been on fire for FC Porto in the ongoing campaign, and his performances haven’t gone unnoticed. According to a report from Fichajes, Tottenham have their eyes set on the Spanish international, and they are ready to go all out to beat the competition to his signature.
On the back of an impressive loan spell at Deportivo Alaves, Porto signed Aghehowa from Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2024. He has only gone from strength to strength since.
He had an impressive debut campaign as he finished with 27 goals and three assists in his 45 outings. The 21-year-old has carried that form into the new campaign, and he has 16 goals and an assist at the halfway mark.
His exceptional performances in the Portuguese top flight and the Champions League haven’t gone unnoticed. While his contract at Porto runs until the summer of 2029, he could be on the move to a bigger club in the near future.
While Thomas Frank hasn’t had the best of times since taking charge at the North London club, he has the full backing of the board, and they are looking to go big in the upcoming window.
Tottenham are ready to go big for Aghehowa
With Randal Kolo Muani not having the desired impact and Dominic Solanke struggling to stay fit, signing a new striker is a top priority for them. They consider Aghehowa an ideal fit for their project and seem ready to break the bank for his signature.
He was already on their wishlist last summer, but they didn’t have the funds to make it happen. However, it seems they are now willing to go the distance, as they have realised that they need to get closer to his €100 million release clause to bring him to North London.
While Porto are determined to keep him at the club for now, they will struggle to hold onto him beyond this season. Tottenham normally don’t tend to make such a massive investment, but since they are ready to fork out a big fee this time around, it suggests they are quite serious about their pursuit of the 21-year-old. More importantly, he is a perfect fit for their new project, which revolves around building a team for the long run.
