Manchester United dreaming of Scott McTominay return

Ruben Amorim’s Manchester United seem very keen on bringing Arsenal and Tottenham target Scott McTominay back to the club.

Scott McTominay has completely transformed his career since joining Napoli. Not only has the Napoli talisman established himself as one of their manstays, but he is also widely regarded as one of the best midfielders. While he seems to be loving life in Naples, the Scottish international has constantly been linked with a move back to the Premier League.

According to a report from Caught Offside, Manchester United are dreaming about re-signing him, while Arsenal and Tottenham have also been linked with the 29-year-old.

Scott McTominay came up the ranks at Old Trafford, and he was a part of their first team for seven years before making the move to Napoli in the summer of 2024. While he lost prominence at Manchester United towards the final years, he was an instant hit for the Serie A outfit.

The 29-year-old played a massive part in their Serie A triumph, and he was later named the competition’s Player of the Year. He has flourished under Antonio Conte’s command. The Italian tactician has given the Scot much-needed freedom, and he has excelled in the box-to-box role.

McTominay’s sensational performances have resulted in a lot of interest from England. With his contract running until 2028, Napoli are in complete control of his future. They have no intentions of sanctioning the Scottish midfielder’s departure, but they must take into account financial balance and long-term planning.

As a result, Napoli would be willing to listen to offers of around £60 million. The figure clearly reflects his form and his importance in their team. While the Serie A giants would not want to lose Scott McTominay mid-season, a substantial financial offer can make them rethink their stance.

Premier League giants are keen on McTominay

Manchester United are the biggest contenders for Scott McTominay’s signature. They regret letting him leave, and with the long-term futures of Casemiro, Kobbie Mainoo, Manuel Ugarte and Bruno Fernandes uncertain, they are willing to spend big to bring him back.

The Red Devils do have a massive advantage over clubs like Arsenal and Tottenham because of the emotional bond with the player. Spurs are keen on his signature, as Thomas Frank is keen to add goals and physical presence from midfield. Meanwhile, the Gunners view him as a high-level rotational option to further bolster their midfield.

McTominay leaving Napoli mid-season looks very unlikely, but the 29-year-old Scottish international could be heading back to England next summer, given the amount of interest in his services.
