Antonio Cordero set to join Cadiz on loan in January

Cadiz are reportedly all set to secure the services of Newcastle United attacking sensation Antonio Cordero on loan in January.

According to MARCA via Sport Witness, Antonio Cordero is all set to join Cadiz on loan in the upcoming transfer window. While the Newcastle United wonderkid is currently on loan at KVC Westerlo, he has not had enough game time. As a result, his loan move in Belgium will be cut short, and he will be returning to Spain for the remainder of the season.

Cordero came up the ranks at Malaga. The teenage prospect got promoted to their first team back in 2024, and after an impressive season with the Spanish club, he ended up joining Newcastle United on a free transfer last summer.

While the Magpies do consider him an important part of their long-term plans, Eddie Howe could not guarantee him an important role in the ongoing campaign. As a result, they let him join KVC Westerlo on loan for the 2025/26 season.

However, the loan move to the Belgian club has not gone according to plan for him. He has racked up just 102 minutes of first-team action in his eight outings. Neither the player nor Newcastle United are pleased with his situation, and they have decided to cut short the loan spell.

Cordero is set to join Cadiz on loan

While Antonio Cordero is set to return to Newcastle United, Howe has no plans to integrate him into his team. As a result, they are looking to once again send him out on loan. The Spanish youth international is set to return to his homeland to get some regular first-team action and get his career back on track.

Deportivo de La Coruna had emerged as a potential destination, but now it seems he is set to join Spanish second division outfit, Cadiz. The negotiations between the two clubs are believed to be at an advanced stage, and it could be finalised in the near future.

The report suggests his move to the Spanish second division is imminent. Following his failed move to Westerlo, the Magies have given him full autonomy to decide on his next club, and the player is keen on returning to Spain. While he had several options, Cadiz have managed to beat the competition.
