Liverpool links with Ayase Ueda refuted

Liverpool’s rumoured interest in Japanese striker Ayase Ueda has been dismissed out of hand, with Feyenoord not interested in a sale.

According to 1908, Liverpool are unlikely to pursue a deal for Japanese striker Ayase Ueda ahead of the January window. The rumored links to the 27-year-old Eredivisie striker have been dismissed out of hand, while Feyenoord have no interest in selling the league’s top scorer this term in the middle of the season.

Feyenoord have seemingly benefitted from Arne Slot’s ideas in the long run, as a player, the current Liverpool boss signed while managing the Eredivisie club, has been the shining light in the league. The said name is Ayase Ueda, with the Japanese striker leading the scoring charts with 18 strikes in the division this season.

With his goalscoring form catching the eye of many, it’s no surprise that the 27-year-old Eredivisie striker has featured in media reports linking him to the Premier League. Quite ironically, it is Liverpool who are linked with Ueda, as they have been mentioned with links to many other strikers since last week or so.

Alexander Isak has suffered a significant injury that will keep him out for a lengthy period of time, as Liverpool are short of options in the frontline. There are some big names mentioned as potential replacements, including links to Borussia Dortmund’s Karim Adeyemi.

Manchester City’s Omar Marmoush is another name linked with Liverpool, while Slot’s side are also interested in Brentford’s Igor Thiago as a potential replacement for Isak. There are obvious difficulties in signing either of those names in the middle of the season, as Ueda’s links were also dismissed out of hand.

No Liverpool move for Ayase Ueda?

It appears Liverpool are not interested in signing Ueda, as these may have been links borne out of Slot’s previous connections to Feyenoord. The Dutch giants are not even interested in entertaining offers for the Eredivisie top scorer in January.

Feyenoord are angling to finish in the top two at the end of the season, as they are targeting a return to the Champions League. For that to materialise, keeping the 27-year-old Eredivisie striker is key for the team, although Liverpool were never realistically interested in signing the Japanese attacker.
