Liverpool considering €95 million move for Alessandro Bastoni

Liverpool are reportedly considering offering €95 million to test Inter Milan’s resolve on Alessandro Bastoni ahead of January.

According to Fichajes, Alessandro Bastoni is emerging to be a massive target for Liverpool ahead of the January transfer window. The Premier League champions are reportedly willing to offer €95 million to test Inter Milan’s resolve, with the Italian viewed as a long-term replacement for Virgil van Dijk.

Liverpool made a concerted decision back in the summer to hand new lucrative deals to veterans Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah. Both those stars had fabulous seasons, and replacing both in the same window would have proved challenging, as Liverpool were focused on improving their attacking setup in the most recent window.

They also failed to land Marc Guehi on deadline day of the summer window, and for most parts this season, they have looked vulnerable in the defence. While Guehi remains linked ahead of the coming windows, Liverpool also wants a long-term replacement for Van Dijk, in the mould of a left-footed centre-back.

Liverpool are interested in Alessandro Bastoni, with many previous reports stating they could make a big move for the Italian defender in January. The new story around the links suggests Liverpool are reportedly ready to offer €95 million to test Inter Milan’s resolve on their key player.

From a profile standpoint, Bastoni is the ideal replacement for van Dijk, although the 26-year-old Serie A defender has many more suitors in the mix. Moreover, there are significant doubts whether Inter Milan would want to sell their most important defender in the middle of the season, given that such a sale could potentially derail their campaign across all fronts.

Will Liverpool land Alessandro Bastoni in January?

Bastoni remains a coveted target for Liverpool and many other teams, but it will take a massive offer to convince Inter Milan to sell. Should Liverpool come through with the reported €95 million proposal, things could change from Inter Milan’s perspective, as they might even consider letting the Italian international leave.

Alessandro Bastoni is currently happy at Inter Milan, and while he remains focused on the remainder of the season ahead, he also wants to stay on course to help Italy at the World Cup next year. Moves like this one for the 26-year-old Serie A defender could prove difficult for any team, let alone Liverpool, even if they are prepared to pay over the top.
