Arne Slot’s Liverpool are holding talks to sign Borussia Dortmund attacking mainstay Karim Adeyemi.
Karim Adeyemi could be heading to the Premier League in the upcoming transfer window, as Liverpool are quite keen on his signature. According to a report from AnfieldIndex, the Merseyside club have held preliminary talks with his camp regarding a potential transfer.
Adeyemi hasn’t looked back since joining Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2022 from Red Bull Salzburg. He has managed to establish himself as a key figure in the team. The 23-year-old winger has featured in a total of 129 games and has contributed towards 54 goals.
In the ongoing campaign, the German international has six goals and three assists in his 22 outings. While he prefers playing out wide on the right flank, he is equally effective anywhere in attack.
On the back of his impressive performances and massive potential, multiple top clubs are interested in him. His pace and ability to unsettle defences with his dribbling have resulted in widespread praise.
Liverpool are one of the clubs that are keen on his signature. The Merseyside club seek more firepower in the final third following a disappointing start to the season. With Mohamed Salah’s future uncertain, Arne Slot wants more quality on the flanks.
Liverpool might prefer Adeyemi over Semenyo
While their priority target is Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo, they will have to battle quite a few top clubs to secure his services. On top of that, his massive £65 million release clause, which expires on the 10th of January, makes things a lot more complicated for them.
As a result, they are looking at Adeyemi as a more cost-effective and realistic option. While he is not a proven Premier League player, the 23-year-old has all the qualities needed to succeed in the English top flight.
With the race for Semenyo heating up, Liverpool are not only considering Adeyemi, but they have also already held preliminary talks with his camp. Since he could be available for around £20 million, the Reds can secure his services without much trouble, despite having spent a fortune in the last summer transfer window.
