Daniel Farke’s Leeds United have reportedly been offered the chance to sign Sevilla forward Ruben Vargas in January.
Ruben Vargas’s future has become a big talking point ahead of the winter transfer window. The Swiss winger seems keen on making the switch to England, and according to a report from TEAMtalk, intermediaries have reached out to Leeds United regarding a potential transfer.
Vargas made the move to Sevilla at the start of 2025. Despite not being a regular starter, he has had quite an impact at the Spanish club. In the ongoing campaign, he has been involved in 13 matches, has racked up 881 minutes and has contributed towards seven goals.
While his contract at Sevilla runs until the summer of 2029, Ruben Vargas seems keen on making a move away in search of a more prominent role. Meanwhile, the Spanish club are also ready to sanction his departure. Intermediaries believe a fee of around €10 million could be enough to secure his services.
Leeds United could make a move for Vargas
Ruben Vargas seems keen on making the move to England, and intermediaries have reached out to three English clubs as they try to broker a deal. Leeds United are one of the clubs that have been offered the chance to sign the 27-year-old.
The Yorkshire-based outfit were keen on securing more quality in the final third after a disappointing start to the season. Daniel Farke would love to work with Vargas, who has been doing a great job for Sevilla while playing across the front line.
But of late, his priorities seem to have shifted a touch. Ever since Farke switched to the 3-5-2 formation, his team have been doing great in the final third, and he is no longer desperate for more firepower out wide on the flanks.
The Leeds United boss is now looking to add another striker to the mix, someone who can provide cover and competition for Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Lukas Nmecha. Since the latter is out injured, signing a number nine is a priority. However, they could still look at Vargas, who has already given the green light to a move to the Premier League, and is available for a bargain price.
