Alexander Isak set for lengthy injury layoff, Liverpool transfer plan revealed

Liverpool could be forced to look for attacking reinforcement in January, as Alexander Isak has been sidelined with an injury.

According to Ben Jacobs, Alexander Isak’s injury could alter Liverpool’s plans for the upcoming winter transfer window. The Swedish international could be set for a lengthy injury layoff, as the Reds are concerned about the severity of the knock he has picked up.

Isak made quite a name for himself while playing for Newcastle United. The 26-year-old established himself as one of the best forwards in the Premier League, and it resulted in a big-money move to Liverpool last summer.

While the Magpies were reluctant to part ways with him, Isak pushed hard to get a move to Anfield, and even the Reds didn’t lose hope until the very end. He was scoring goals for fun at St. James’ Park. However, things haven’t been that easy for him since joining the Merseyside club.

In his 16 outings, he has only three goals and an assist. Apart from his struggles on the pitch, he has quite a fitness issues, and the 26-year-old has now picked up what looks like a serious injury that could sideline him for weeks.

Liverpool could be forced to look for a new striker

He seems set for a lengthy spell on the treatment table after suffering a significant injury to his left leg. The Reds are not optimistic about the severity. He is set to undergo scans this week, which will determine his prognosis and whether he has sustained a fracture.

Early signs don’t look promising for the club. As a result, they have already started making plans for the winter transfer window that opens in less than two weeks’ time.

Isak’s injury could force them to look for another striker to ensure they have enough depth in the final third needed to compete on all fronts after a disappointing first half. With Mohamed Salah’s future also uncertain, these are certainly difficult times for the Merseyside club.
