Liverpool open to selling Alexander Isak

Liverpool are reportedly considering a sale of star striker Alexander Isak following his disastrous start to life at the club since a big summer move.

According to Fichajes, Alexander Isak’s future is already called into question, as Liverpool are reportedly considering the sale of the attacker at the next available opportunity. While the report claims of a potential departure, Saudi Arabia is mentioned as the possible destination, which could enable the Reds to recoup a chunk of their investment.

Alexander Isak was the saga of the summer window, as Liverpool fought tooth and nail to get the striker to the club. Given his superb performances for Newcastle United in the three seasons he was at St James Park, there was little surprise when the Swede agitated for a move to Merseyside.

After plenty of deliberations, Liverpool managed to sign Isak in a British record deal on deadline day, with plenty of expectations placed on the striker. Given how Liverpool have started the season, they are already considered out of the title race as things stand, and Isak’s performances are not helping their cause at the moment.

Isak has two Premier League goals so far this term, with the striker struggling for fitness and sharpness since his switch to Anfield. Fellow summer arrival Hugo Ekitike has been a shining light in front of the goal, as he continued his goalscoring form.

Given the slow start to life for Isak, Liverpool are now reportedly considering a sale of the attacker at the next available opportunity. The report does mention Saudi Arabia as a possible destination, which might seemingly allow Liverpool to recoup a chunk of the transfer fee they paid Newcastle United, but it remains to be seen whether the club are ready to give up on the investment so soon into Isak’s career at the club.

Will Liverpool sell Alexander Isak?

The optics may point towards a potential thinking from the club to consider their options on the striker if his form continues to dwindle between now and the next phase. However, the idea of dispensing with such a prolific striker so soon into his time at Anfield might be a step too soon for the club.

Moreover, his chips are currently down, which may not enable Liverpool to recoup anywhere close to the sum they paid to sign the 26-year-old star. They signed him on a six-year deal, and while it is not even half a season into his time at the club, there’s plenty of time for the Swede to come good.
