Promise David rejects West Ham United approach

Promise David has reportedly rejected West Ham United’s approach for a winter move after the Hammers were ready to meet Union Saint-Gilloise’s price.

According to a report by Walfoot, Promise David is the subject of interest from West Ham United. The Hammers are eager to reinforce their offensive unit by signing a striker in the winter transfer window. So, the 24-year-old Union Saint-Gilloise centre-forward has emerged as a target for the East London outfit.

However, a January move for the Brampton native will not materialise, as he has rejected West Ham’s advances. While the Irons were ready to meet Union Saint-Gilloise’s valuation, David wants to complete the remainder of the 2025/26 season with the Belgian outfit, and he is happy at Stade Joseph Marien.

Who is Promise David?

Promise David has established himself as one of the most exciting young strikers in the Jupiler Pro League since joining Union Saint-Gilloise from Kalju FC in July 2024. The 24-year-old enjoyed a solid debut season and has continued those exploits in his second campaign with the Belgian club.

The Canadian international has an excellent record of 11 goals in 1,170 minutes of game time across 25 appearances thus far in the 2025/26 season. Meanwhile, David’s exploits have not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several well-known clubs. West Ham United will be among the prospective suitors vying for his signature heading into the winter transfer window.

London calling?

West Ham United’s interest in Promise David makes sense. The Hammers are scouring the market for a striker heading into the winter transfer window, as Niclas Fullkrug is pushing for a January departure from the London Stadium. Additionally, Callum Wilson is on the wrong side of 30 and approaching the twilight of his career.

Several candidates, including Moise Kean, have thus emerged on West Ham’s radar, with David also a viable target. Recent reports have suggested that the Hammers are in pole position to sign the Union Saint-Gilloise striker. However, a deal will not materialise, as the player has rejected the East London club’s advances.

The report suggests that David wants to complete the 2025/26 season with Union Saint-Gilloise, and he is happy at the Belgian club. So, West Ham must look elsewhere for a striker heading into the winter transfer window.
