Crystal Palace have reportedly made a decision on the future of 22-year-old Nigerian international Christantus Uche.
According to a report from Spanish publication AS, Crystal Palace have decided not to sign Christantus Uche permanently, and they have already informed Getafe of their intentions. The 22-year-old joined South London club in the summer transfer window on a season-long loan deal, and they had an option to make the move permanent next year.
However, the youngster has not been able to hold down a regular starting spot, and it does not make any sense for Crystal Palace to sign him permanently. Therefore, they have already informed the Spanish club that the 22-year-old will leave when his loan deal expires.
Christantus Uche has barely received any opportunities at the Premier League club. It will be interesting to see if he can get his career back on track with regular football. Crystal Palace could certainly use more quality and depth on the flanks, and the 22-year-old could still be a useful option for them. However, he will need to win over the trust of the manager.
The Nigerian international has previously shown his quality in Spain, and there is no doubt that he has the technical attributes to do well in the Premier League. However, he has not managed to adapt to English football yet.
Crystal Palace will need improvements
Meanwhile, Crystal Palace are pushing for a place in Europe next season. It will be interesting to see if they can do well during the second half of the campaign and secure their place in Europe for the upcoming campaign.
The Eagles have shown great progress in recent months, and they have managed to win the FA Cup and the Community Shield as well. Christantus Uche would have expected to compete at a high level with them regularly, but the move has not worked out at all.
It would be ideal for all parties to go their separate ways. Meanwhile, the 22-year-old does not have a future at Getafe either. The Spanish club will now look to get him out of the club in the summer. It remains to be seen whether they can find a suitable destination.
