OGC Nice make approach for Manuel Ugarte move, player not keen on move

OGC Nice are keen on acquiring the services of Manchester United midfielder Manuel Ugarte and have enquired about his availability.

Manuel Ugarte hasn’t been able to establish himself as a key figure at Manchester United. Since he doesn’t have a prominent role in the team under Ruben Amorim, his future has been a big talking point for some time now.

His situation has resulted in a lot of interest, and according to Jeunesfooteux, OGC Nice are one of the clubs that want to sign the South American midfielder. They have already made an enquiry, but the player doesn’t seem keen on joining the French club.

After failing to make a name for himself at PSG, Ugarte ended up joining United in the summer of 2024 with hopes of reviving his career. While the Red Devils forked out a significant fee to secure his services and high expectations from the 24-year-old, he hasn’t been able to live up to them.

He doesn’t have an important role in the team under Amorim and has only racked up 359 minutes of first-team action in his 11 outings across competitions. While his contract at the club runs until 2029, he is unlikely to be around for long if things carry on in similar fashion.

Nice want to sign Ugarte on loan

The player isn’t pleased with his situation and could push for an exit in the winter transfer window. OGC Nice have emerged as a potential destination. The French club haven’t been in the best of form, and they are looking at the January window as an opportunity to reinforce their squad.

Since they have a very limited pursuit, they are looking at potential loan deals. They have made an enquiry about Ugarte. Since Jim Ratcliffe owns Nice and holds a 25% stake at United, things are certainly a lot easier for the French club.

This relationship has allowed them to explore a potential loan deal. Even if the Red Devils were to give the green light to the move, Ugarte is not keen on joining them, despite the fact that he will get a lot more game time in Ligue. Nice certainly have a lot of convincing to do if they want to get the deal over the line.
