Manchester United considering Tyler Adams swoop

Manchester United may look to sign 26-year-old USMNT international Tyler Adams from fellow Premier League club Bournemouth next year.

According to a report by the Daily Mail, Tyler Adams is the subject of interest from Manchester United. The Red Devils are keen on bolstering their first-team squad by signing a holding midfielder next year. So, the 26-year-old Bournemouth midfielder has emerged as a target for them.

The Premier League bigwigs have identified him as an alternative to top defensive midfield targets, with a January move possible. Meanwhile, Bournemouth will demand around £40 million to part ways with Adams, making the American midfielder an appealing target for Manchester United.

How has Tyler Adams fared at Bournemouth?

Tyler Adams has endured a topsy-turvy ride since joining Bournemouth from Leeds United in August 2023. A native of Wappingers Falls, the player spent his formative years in his homeland and graduated from the youth division at the New York Red Bulls. However, the 26-year-old rose in prominence during his spell with Leeds United.

Fitness issues have plagued Adams throughout his spell with Bournemouth, but he has been impressive when he has been available. The 52-cap USMNT international has made over 50 appearances thus far for the Cherries while chipping in with two goals and four assists. Meanwhile, the player’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several well-known clubs, including Manchester United.

Move across the Premier League on the cards?

Manchester United’s interest in Tyler Adams is understandable. The Red Devils are scouring the market for a holding midfielder, as Casemiro is on the wrong side of 30 and approaching the twilight of his career. Additionally, Manuel Ugarte has struggled since joining Manchester United from Paris Saint-Germain last year, and recent reports have claimed that a departure may be on the cards.

Several candidates have thus emerged on Manchester United’s radar, with Elliot Anderson, Carlos Baleba, and Adam Wharton being the top targets. However, the first-choice trio will be too expensive for Manchester United, and Joao Gomes is reportedly an alternative for the winter transfer window.

Adams also falls in that category, and Bournemouth’s asking price of £40 million makes the 26-year-old American midfielder an appealing target for Manchester United. So, it will be interesting to see what the future holds for the 52-cap USMNT international.
