Manchester United will consider offers for Manuel Ugarte ahead of January as multiple teams are expected to approach.
According to Ekrem Konur, Manuel Ugarte could be out of his way at Manchester United, as they are ready to consider offers for the unwanted Uruguayan international. The former PSG midfielder has fallen out of the pecking order in Ruben Amorim’s squad, as starts are difficult to come by.
Manuel Ugarte was an expensive acquisition by Manchester United as former manager Erik ten Hag considered the Uruguayan a key part of his plans. The Red Devils spent €50 million on the midfielder back in the summer of 2024, but he has not hit the ground running.
Ugarte has often come in for massive criticism for his displays in midfield, either from the start or off the bench. Meanwhile, this season, his role has regressed even further, while talk of Manchester United looking for a new midfielder is picking up steam.
Manchester United have a few high-profile options under consideration, which effectively shows that they have lost faith in the €50 million misfit. Hence, there is every chance they could part ways with Manuel Ugarte, with the report stating the Red Devils will listen to offers in the January window.
LOSC Lille wonderkid Ayyoub Bouaddi is a target in January for Manchester United, which might be a bigger indication that they are ready to part ways with the South American midfielder in January. There seems to be interest from La Liga, Serie A and Ligue 1 for the midfielder, which might see a flurry of offers come across in January.
Manchester United to sign a new midfielder?
The idea of signing a new midfielder has been at the forefront of Manchester United’s plans since the summer. Carlos Baleba was a serious target in the summer, but they were unable to conduct any concrete talks with Brighton & Hove Albion back then, as they could get him again next summer.
Elliot Anderson, Adam Wharton, and Baleba appear to be their main targets for the midfield position, as players like Manuel Ugarte and even Kobbie Mainoo could part ways in the near future. Hence, for the club to sign a new midfielder in January, they may have to part ways with Ugarte to have the space and finances to sign someone new.
