Tottenham, Newcastle United and Aston Villa will have to fork out €70 million to sign Brentford ace Igor Thiago.
Igor Thiago has had a sensational start to the new season. The Brazilian striker has been scoring goals for fun, and his overall performances haven’t gone unnoticed. Tottenham, Newcastle United, and Aston Villa have all taken note of his work and would love to sign the Brentford star.
According to a report from CaughtOffside, the Bees are well aware of the increasing interest in the 24-year-old, and they have slapped a massive €70 million price tag on him. They want a fortune to let go of one of their best players mid-season.
Thiago joined Brentford in the summer of 2024 on the back of his impressive performances for Club Brugge. He had a very disappointing debut campaign, as injuries kept him on the sidelines for the majority of the season.
However, he has bounced back in some fashion this season. Following the departure of Yoane Wissa and Bryan Mbeumo, he has taken over as the leader of their attack, and the 24-year-old hasn’t disappointed.
Bentford’s stance on their 12-goal striker
In his 16 outings across competitions, Thiago has found the back of the net on 12 occasions. His exceptional performances in the English top flight have put him on the radar of Tottenham, Newcastle and Aston Villa.
Brentford are reluctant to lose him mid-season and have placed a massive asking price €70 million. With his contract running until 2029, and the Bees unlikely to lower their demands, a potential transfer looks very difficult for interested clubs.
Premier League trio keen on Thiago’s signature
Aston Villa see him as an ideal long-term replacement for Ollie Watkins and could table an offer of around €50–57 million. Meanwhile, Tottenham have explored a loan move, but the Bees have no intentions of accepting such a deal.
Newcastle, who signed Wissa from Brentford in the summer, could return for Thiago, as DR Congo striker is yet to take the field because of injury troubles. They feel the Brazilian could significantly bolster their attack.
At this point, a winter move looks very unlikely, but the clubs could return for him in the summer. Meanwhile, the player could prefer a move to Tottenham, as they have a more compelling project and recently won the Europa League.
