West Ham United are reportedly interested in exploring a move for Norwich City striker Josh Sargent ahead of the January window.
According to The Sun, Josh Sargent is increasingly emerging as a serious target for West Ham United ahead of the January window. The hammers are in the market for a new striker as Nuno Espirito Santo might part ways with German forward Niclas Fullkrug, as Sargent is one of the names being discussed among others.
West Ham United have struggled to get the best out of their current forward options, with Niclas Fullkrug and Callum Wilson failing to hit the ground running. The latter has still been better and a bit more reliable than the former, as Nuno Espirito Santo wants a new option ahead of the January window.
The Hammers could offload Fullkrug in the next window, as the report states they may need to sell before signing new players. There have been a few names mentioned with regard to the new striker signing, with Sassuolo star Andrea Pinamonti one of those linked.
AC Milan’s Santiago Gimenez was also mentioned as a target of late, while Union Saint-Gilloise star Promise David also features on their list. Championship side Norwich City’s Josh Sargent is now emerging as a serious name on West Ham’s shortlist, as a move could be on the cards ahead of the January window.
West Ham had tracked Sargent’s performances of late and had been thinking about making a move. The Norwich City man has six goals in the Championship this season, and does not necessarily scream the prolific striker that the Hammers may need, but his experience in England could be the key in this pursuit.
Norwich City ready to sell Josh Sargent?
Norwich City reportedly values Sargent at £15 million, and that may be the price the Hammers may have to pay to get the striker on board. Given the chance to play in the Premier League might prove appealing for the forward, as the Canaries might end up losing a key star in the middle of the season.
The £15 million-rated striker could yet prove to be a good addition for the Hammers, who are eager to escape all talks of a relegation battle. Espirito Santo’s experience in the game could still get the best out of Sargent, as it remains to be seen whether West Ham are serious enough to make a bid for the striker.
