River Plate contemplate making a move for Gabriel Jesus in January, but face a complicated situation due to Arsenal’s stance.
According to Fichajes, River Plate are reportedly interested in a move for Gabriel Jesus in the next window. The Historic South American side are eager to offer the Brazilian attacker a route out of Arsenal with the promise of regular game time ahead of the World Cup, but any move will prove complicated.
Gabriel Jesus returned to the pitch for Arsenal this week in the Champions League against Club Brugge after nearly a year out with a ruptured ACL. He then featured on Saturday night against Wolves and forced the late winner via an own goal from Wolves defender Yerson Mosquera, which let the Gunners walk away with three points.
While he was recovering from his injury, there were a lot of reports linking Jesus with an exit, with Brazilian sides Flamengo and Palmeiras interested. Further stories insisted Jesus might be open to the idea of making a return to his homeland, particularly rejoining his former side, Palmeiras.
Arsenal are still anticipating offers to arrive for Jesus in January, as some of the interested teams may yet test their resolve over the striker. Jesus, who arrived in a £45 million deal back in 2022, has been a hit and a miss for Mikel Arteta’s side, given his constant injury issues, but has been important in patches for the club.
Arsenal are keen to keep him on board, as Arteta ruled out a possible exit ahead of the January window. In a season where the Gunners are challenging for the big honours, they are not willing to weaken their attack by offloading the £45 million forward, not least in the January window.
River Plate showing interest in Gabriel Jesus?
River Plate are reportedly contemplating a move for Jesus ahead of the next window, as the Historic South American club are eager to strengthen their attack. There’s the notion that the Argentine side could offer a good plan to the £45 million striker from Arsenal, especially as he seeks regular game time ahead of pushing himself into the Brazilian World Cup squad.
However, there are massive complications before River Plate can get a plan going to get the Brazilian on board. For starters, they may wonder how much Arsenal would demand for the striker, and secondly, they may not have the capacity to pay Jesus the required salary, which casts doubts over their chances of signing the Brazilian.
