Real Madrid rival Liverpool in Jeremy Jacquet chase

Real Madrid are all set to battle it out with Liverpool for the signature of Stade Rennais defensive sensation Jeremy Jacquet.

Jeremy Jacquet’s sensational rise at Stade Rennais hasn’t gone unnoticed. Multiple top clubs from across Europe have taken note of his performances and are keen on signing the French youth international.

Liverpool were already keen on his signature, and according to Ekrem Konur, Real Madrid have also entered the race. Both the Reds and the Spanish giants are ready to square up against each other in the race for his services.

Jacquet has come up the ranks at the French club. While he was promoted to their first team at the start of 2024, he spent a year on loan at French second division club Clermont Foot, before finally getting an extended run in Stade Rennais’ senior team.

So far, the 20-year-old centre-back has featured in a total of 27 matches. He has been a constant feature in their starting XI this season. His impressive performances, along with his massive potential, have resulted in a lot of interest from across Europe.

Liverpool and Real Madrid both want Jacquet

While there is no shortage of interest, Liverpool and Real Madrid seem to be among the front-runners for his signature. Despite having signed Dean Huijsen last summer, Los Blancos seem to lack depth at the back, and with Antonio Rudiger and David Alaba’s contracts running out, they do need to freshen things up at the back.

Even Liverpool are desperate to add a young defender to the mix as Ibrahima Konate’s contract is running out and Virgil van Dijk is in the final phase of his career. Jacquet could be a sensational acquisition for both Madrid and Liverpool.

The Reds have been linked with him for some time, but they are set to face stiff competition from Real Madrid. Los Blancos have recently entered the race, and they have been constantly monitoring his progress. Scouts that have been keeping tabs on him, have been quite impressed by his attributes, and the Spanish giants could soon knock on the French club’s door.
