Jurgen Klopp will push Real Madrid to sign Ibrahima Konate and Dominik Szoboszlai if he ends up taking over from Xabi Alonso.
Xabi Alonso’s future has been a massive talking point in recent weeks as Real Madrid have been going through a very rough patch. With the Spanish giants losing to Manchester City mid-week, things have only gone from bad to worse for the former Bayern Leverkusen manager.
Los Blancos could soon decide to part ways with Alonso, and if they do Jurgen Klopp has emerged as a potential replacement. According to a report from Fichajes, the former Liverpool boss has already informed Real Madrid about his demands. The German manager has requested the signings of Ibrahima Konate and Dominik Szoboszlai.
Defeat to Man City has only increased the pressure on Alonso, but a poor outing against Alaves could actually result in his sacking. If Real Madrid decide on a significant change in the hot seat, Klopp is seen as one of their priority targets.
The German manager has been on Madrid’s wishlist for years, and they would absolutely love to have him on their bench. However, Klopp has already made his stance clear. He won’t accept the job without immediate sporting guarantees, even if he ends up joining them in an emergency situation.
Klopp makes his demands known
The former Liverpool boss would want significant reinforcement in the winter transfer window in order to help him implement his style of play. He wants to bring in Konate and Szoboszlai, players that he signed at the Merseyside club back in the day.
With Madrid struggling because of injuries to key defenders, Konate would be a welcome addition. With his contract running out at the end of the season, Real Madrid could look to sign him on a bargain in January.
Los Blancos were already keen on the French centre-back. However, their interest had cooled in recent weeks. But with Klopp a massive admirer of Konate, things could change quickly.
Meanwhile, the German manager also wants to add Szoboszlai to his ranks. Not only is the Hungarian international versatile and dynamic, but he can also offer a lot in the attacking third.
While signing Konate might not be that big a challenge, getting their hands on Szoboszlai won’t be that straightforward. Firstly, the Madrid board doesn’t see midfield reinforcement in January as a priority. More importantly, Liverpool have no intentions of selling him. With his contract running until 2028, they are in complete control of the situation.
