Arsenal have no plans to offload Gabriel Jesus ahead of the January window, as Mikel Arteta considers the South American ace as a key part.
According to Fichajes, Arsenal have no interest in offloading Gabriel Jesus in January, as Mikel Arteta views him as a key part of his plans moving forward. The South American ace returned from a serious injury sustained earlier in the year, as the Brazilian is now seen as good as a January signing to some extent.
Arsenal did well in the summer with their transfer business, as Andrea Berta was instrumental in bringing in eight new players. All of a sudden, the Gunners have one of the best squad depths on the continent, which has made them one of the favourites for the Premier League and Champions League crowns.
Furthermore, they have topped the Premier League and Champions League standings without a host of their key stars, including Gabriel Jesus. The South American ace has been missing since rupturing his ACL earlier in the year, as he made his return to the pitch as a substitute during Arsenal’s away win over Club Brugge on Wednesday evening.
There have been plenty of rumours over his immediate future, with some reports stating Arsenal anticipated offers for the Brazilian. There have been some stories indicating that Jesus is eager to play for Brazil at the World Cup, for which he might have to play regularly between now and the end of the season.
Given the competition in place at Arsenal, summer arrival Viktor Gyokeres and Kai Havertz stand in his way, but the South American ace has the backing of manager Mikel Arteta. During the most recent press conference ahead of the weekend’s clash with Wolves, Arteta reiterated his desire to keep Jesus and indicated the club are not interested in parting ways in January.
Arteta said, “I don’t consider that, especially with the situation we have right now. “I think Gabby has a lot to offer to the team – and he has proven that straight away, in the first minutes that he was available to play.”
Where does Gabriel Jesus fit in at Arsenal?
Despite the big interest from some of the Premier League sides, as per a few reports, as well as some clubs from his homeland, Brazil, Jesus could still be of utmost importance for Arsenal. Flamengo and Palmeiras are keen on the player, but he has a big role to play for the Gunners in the second part of the season.
Jesus’s ability to play centrally as well as in the wide areas makes him an archetypal Arteta player, as the Gunners boss does not want to weaken his attack. Given the constant injury troubles plaguing Arsenal, it would be unwise to offload a player of the Brazilian’s quality, which does make the decision not to part ways with him in January the right one.
