Arsenal are reportedly interested in a move for Diant Ramaj, as Borussia Dortmund are undecided on the goalkeeper’s future beyond the summer.
According to Ekrem Konur, Arsenal are potentially interested in a move for highly-rated Borussia Dortmund goalkeeper Diant Ramaj. The 24-year-old goalkeeper is on loan at Heidenheim for the current season, but his future at Dortmund remains undecided, which could spark a move out of the Bundesliga club depending on what transpires with Gregor Kobel.
Borussia Dortmund have a talented keeper on their hands, although they are undecided on Diant Ramaj’s future. The 24-year-old goalkeeper is performing well while on loan at Heidenheim this season, but remains eager to earn his place as Dortmund’s No.1 going forward.
As things stand, Arsenal are one of those interested in signing the 24-year-old goalkeeper next summer, which may come as a surprise. Last summer and the one before that, the Gunners tried to sign Joan Garcia from Espanyol to provide David Raya with top-level competition.
Garcia has since joined Barcelona in a high-profile deal this past summer, and the Gunners are still in the market for a new keeper. They did sign Kepa Arrizabalaga in the summer as Raya’s backup in the summer, but the long-term plan is to bring someone who could compete with Raya for the No.1 shirt.
Hence, they are interested in Diant Ramaj as a potential option, as the Gunners are now plotting a summer move for the 24-year-old goalkeeper. Any deal will depend on what transpires with current Dortmund No.1 Gregor Kobel, as his future at the club will determine whether Ramaj moves on or stays.
Can Diant Ramaj leave Borussia Dortmund?
Ramaj is eager to claim the No.1 spot at Borussia Dortmund once his loan at Heidenheim expires next summer. While he might want to be the main man at Borussia Dortmund between the sticks, any decision there will depend on Kobel, who did have plenty of interest back in the summer.
Should Kobel leave next summer, then Dian Ramaj is destined to become their next No.1, although should the former stay put, then the player might depart. Arsenal are seemingly waiting in the wings to understand if a move will be possible, as Dortmund are likely to demand a significant price given the 24-year-old goalkeeper is tied there until 2029.
