Arsenal, Crystal Palace vying for Toni Fruk

Arsenal and Crystal Palace are interested in HNK Rijeka attacking midfielder Toni Fruk ahead of January, with the Croatian club likely to sell.

According to Team Talk, HNK Rijeka midfielder Toni Fruk is on the radars of Arsenal and Crystal Palace, with a January move likely. The Croatian side are unlikely to be in a position of power to stop a transfer if the player desires a switch, as his profile is something Mikel Arteta and Oliver Glasner seek in the market.

Arsenal and Crystal Palace are vying for HNK Rijeka attacking midfielder Toni Fruk ahead of the January window. The Londoners are angling for a move for the 24-year-old as his profile suits what Mikel Arteta and Oliver Glasner want.

His high pressing style as well as clinical form in front of goal are crucial elements of his attributes, which have ensured the Premier League duo are interested. The Croatian side signed him back in 2023 from Fiorentina, with the Italian side still holding a buy-back clause, in the region of €15 million.

Hence, Rijeka will hold out for at least that if suitors other than Fiorentina come into the equation, as Arsenal and Crystal Palace are in the mix. Oliver Glasner would seek such a profile of a player, given that the club have not realistically replaced Eberechi Eze since his move to Arsenal in the summer.

They did sign Yeremy Pino in that regard, but a specialist player in the attacking midfielder role would be something Glasner would want. Hence, the Eagles are well within the mix for the star who already has 12 goals and assists for Rijeka and has been dubbed as the next Luka Modric.

Arsenal the front runners for Toni Fruk?

Arsenal are the surprise contenders in the mix, and should the links to Fruk turn out to be true, then the reports on a potential loan for Ethan Nwaneri would make sense. Arteta might feel the latter is not yet ready for the big time, and a loan might help his development.

However, a move for Fruk might indicate a different direction, as Arsenal already have plenty of left-footed attackers in their ranks. Given that the Croatian brings some qualities the current players probably lack, he could be a solid addition, as Arsenal’s presence does make them the final.
