Manchester United line up 2026 summer move for David Affengruber, price revealed

Manchester United are eager to sign David Affengruber from Elche in the summer as Ruben Amorim likes the centre-back’s profile.

According to Team Talk, Manchester United are strongly considering the idea of signing David Affendruber next summer from Elche. The Spanish side may be powerless to hold on to the defender if they cannot agree on a new deal, as Ruben Amorim likes the Austrian’s profile for his squad.

David Affendruber has made a stellar mark on proceedings with Elche this season, as he’s widely considered one of the top centre-backs in La Liga. The Austrian has helped his team into ninth spot on the table after the most recent gameweek, although there are links to a move away from Elche.

Manchester United had been interested in Affendruber for some time now, and they are now seriously considering a summer move for the Austrian centre-back. Manager Ruben Amorim likes the player’s profile and how he might fit into the squad to give him a fresh option at the back.

Manchester United under Amorim tends to play with e back three, and adding a strong centre-back such as Affendruber will strengthen their cause. They are aware of Elche’s asking price to an extent, with the Spanish side now reportedly seeking at least €30 million to sell their star defender.

However, there’s the possibility of Manchester United negotiating the price further down, as the Spanish side could be at a position of disadvantage next summer when he will have a year left on his deal. IN any case, Elche do hold the option of a year-long extension, which could give them a boost to achieve the best price for the €30 million-rated defender.

What are Manchester United’s transfer plans?

Apart from the links to Affendruber, Manchester United are focused on strengthening several key areas in their squad. Amorim has yet to see his wing-backs flourish, as he would demand new sets of players in that position moving forward.

A new striker could also be on the agenda, although the main area of focus is the midfield. There are numerous links to some big-name players from within the Premier League, as there’s growing confidence that Manchester United will land one of their key targets in the central position, possibly next summer, as they are not currently expected to spend big in January.
