Fulham in transfer tussle to sign Soungoutou Magassa

Samuel Chukwueze set to join Fulham as deal agreed.

Fulham will reportedly compete with several well-known clubs in the race to sign 22-year-old French midfielder Soungoutou Magassa from West Ham United next year.

According to an update by Turkish journalist Ekrem Konur, Soungoutou Magassa is the subject of interest from Fulham. The Cottagers are keen on bolstering their first-team squad by signing a versatile midfielder in the winter transfer window. So, the 22-year-old West Ham United prospect has emerged as a target for the West London outfit.

However, Fulham will not be alone in the battle for the Frenchman’s signature, as AS Roma, Eintracht Frankfurt, Nottingham Forest, and Napoli are also keen on signing him. Meanwhile, it is unclear if West Ham will part ways with Magassa in the coming weeks.

How has Soungoutou Magassa fared at Napoli?

Soungoutou Magassa has endured a topsy-turvy ride since joining West Ham United from AS Monaco in a deal worth €20 million, including add-ons, in the summer transfer window. A native of Stains, the 22-year-old travelled around in his youth career, passing through the academies at FC Sucy, RC Joinville, Saint-Maur Lusitanos, and FC Gobelins before graduating from the youth division at AS Monaco.

The French midfield prospect rose in prominence during his spell with AS Monaco, but he has managed only 357 minutes of game time in nine appearances thus far for West Ham. However, Magassa’s stock remains high, with Fulham among the prospective suitors vying for his signature.

Move across the Premier League on the cards?

Fulham’s interest in Soungoutou Magassa is understandable. Marco Silva has two top-class midfielders in his squad, with Sander Berge and Sasa Lukic providing a solid base in the middle of the park. However, the Fulham manager wants more options in the central areas as he plans a bright long-term future.

Several candidates, including Joe Willock, have thus emerged on Fulham’s radar, with Magassa also a viable target. However, the Cottagers are not alone in the race to sign the 22-year-old Frenchman, as AS Roma, Eintracht Frankfurt, Nottingham Forest, and Napoli are also keen on securing his services.

Meanwhile, it is unclear if West Ham will part ways with Magassa in the coming weeks. With the French midfielder starting to show signs of turning things around at the East London club, a deal may be a tall order for Fulham and the other prospective suitors.
