Aston Villa could offload first-team trio including Ollie Watkins

Unai Emery’s Aston Villa could part ways with Jadon Sancho, Harvey Elliot and Ollie Watkins in January to make room for potential new signings.

Aston Villa had a rather disappointing start to the season as they were winless in their first six outings across competitions. However, they have bounced back in some fashion and have won each of their last seven outings. Emery’s team just got the better of league leaders Arsenal at Villa Park and are now three points off the top.

They find themselves in the Premier League title race, and in order to strengthen their chances, they want to add more firepower in January. However, they cannot sign anyone in the upcoming transfer window unless they let go of some of their biggest earners. According to Football Insider, the Birmingham-based outfit could offload Jadon Sancho, Harvey Elliot and Ollie Watkins.

The trio are among their highest earners, and their departure will certainly make a lot of room on their wage bill for potential new signings. Watkins’ sale could raise significant funds that could be used to sign some top players.

Villa to let go of Sancho, Watkins and Elliot?

However, the decision to offload all three won’t be that straightforward. Elliot hasn’t had much game time since joining them from Liverpool on loan. As a result, Emery might not hesitate to get him off their books.

But the same cannot be said about Waitkins and Sancho. While the 29-year-old striker only has three league goals in his 15 outings, he has started in 13 of those fixtures. He is a very important part of Emery’s plans and has contributed a lot to their overall game.

Reports earlier have suggested that they could let him leave in January if an offer of around £35 million is presented. But given his importance in the team, that looks unlikely, unless they have a top-quality replacement lined up.

Meanwhile, the Spanish manager has also relied a lot on Manchester United winger, bringing him on in six out of their last seven league outings. Sancho has started all their Europa League fixtures as well. As a result, Emery will have to carefully consider everything before giving the green light to the trio’s exit.
