Tottenham line up €35 million move for Troy Parrott

Tottenham could line up a €35 million move for former striker and Irish hero Troy Parrott ahead of the January window.

According to Fichajes, Troy Parrott is the latest name on Tottenham’s wishlist of strikers ahead of the January window. Thomas Frank is keen to bolster his frontline, as Spurs could ponder paying €35 million for the Irish hero only 18 months after letting him leave.

Troy Parrott has captured the imagination of a few big clubs over in the Premier League, following his performances for AZ Alkmaar over the last 18 months. Since leaving Tottenham for the Dutch side, he has been a prolific presence in front of goal, and this season he has 17 goals and assists to his name across all competitions.

Parrott has come into the limelight following his heroic displays for Ireland in their World Cup qualifiers. The striker took the national side to the playoffs in dramatic fashion, by scoring a hat-trick against Hungary, while also netting a double against Portugal in the game before that.

He has significant interest from Premier League sides, as his former team, Tottenham, are the latest to add him to their wishlist of strikers. Spurs are angling for a new centre-forward in January to solve a key goalscoring issue on their side, with several options being considered.

Spurs are now reportedly willing to table a €35 million offer to test AZ Alkmaar’s resolve on the 17 G/A goal machine. Dutch sides are often open to selling their top stars for the right price, and should Tottenham come through with their offer, there’s a chance for the Irish hero to make a return to north London.

Does Tottenham have other options in mind?

Parrott is not the only name on their wishlist, as Spurs do have other targets on their radar, including FC Porto’s Samu Aghehowa. Thomas Frank wants to solve a key goalscoring issue in his team, which could even see the club make a decision on Richarlison amid Everton links.

Spurs are planning to sign a striker and a winger in January to bolster their attacking setup, while a new centre-back could also be part of their agenda. As for Parrott, he might be a good choice to bring in and compete with current stars like Dominic Solanke and Randal Kolo Muani.
