Crystal Palace unlikely to sign Rocco Vata in January

Crystal Palace will unlikely sign 20-year-old Irish winger Rocco Vata from EFL Championship club Watford in the winter transfer window due to his hamstring injury.

According to a report by Football Insider, Rocco Vata is the subject of interest from Crystal Palace. The Eagles are keen on reinforcing their offensive unit by signing a versatile attacker in the winter transfer window. So, the 20-year-old Watford winger has emerged as a target for the South London outfit.

However, a January deal for the Glasgow-born winger will not materialise due to his hamstring injury. The Irishman will remain in the treatment room for a long time, and Crystal Palace will likely wait until the summer transfer window to secure a deal.

Who is Rocco Vata?

Rocco Vata has established himself as one of the best young prospects in the EFL Championship since joining Watford from Celtic last year. A native of Glasgow, the young winger spent his formative years in Scotland and graduated from the youth division at Celtic FC. However, the 20-year-old has picked the Republic of Ireland as his national side.

The Irish winger has made nearly 50 appearances thus far for Watford while chipping in with six goals and six assists. Meanwhile, Vata’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several well-known clubs. Crystal Palace will be among the prospective suitors vying for his signature next year.

Move across London on the cards?

Crystal Palace’s interest in Rocco Vata is understandable. The Eagles are scouring the market for a versatile attacker despite signing Yeremy Pino and Christantus Uche in the summer transfer window. However, Uche faces an uncertain future at Selhurst Park, and Crystal Palace may not complete a permanent move for the Nigerian international.

Several candidates, including Christos Tzolis, have thus emerged on Crystal Palace’s radar, with Vata also a viable target. However, the South London club will unlikely seal a winter move for the promising Watford winger in the winter transfer window.

The 20-year-old Republic of Ireland is recovering from a hamstring injury that will keep him in the treatment room for several months. So, Crystal Palace must wait until the summer to secure Vata’s services.
