AS Roma will compete with Everton, West Ham United, and others to sign 24-year-old Brazilian striker Yuri Alberto from Corinthians.
According to an update by Turkish journalist Ekrem Konur, Yuri Alberto is the subject of interest from AS Roma. The Serie A giants are scouring the market for a striker and have set their sights on the Corinthians centre-forward. They have held talks with the Brazilian attacker’s entourage, hoping to beat Everton, West Ham United, and others to his signature.
How has Yuri Alberto fared at Corinthians?
Yuri Alberto has established himself as one of the best strikers in his homeland since joining Corinthians from Zenit St Petersburg. The South American outfit initially signed the 24-year-old striker on loan in July 2022 before completing a permanent move in the subsequent winter transfer window.
The Brazilian striker has been solid in the 2025 season, contributing to 20 goals in 54 outings by scoring 18 times and providing two assists. Meanwhile, Alberto’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several well-known clubs. AS Roma, Everton, and West Ham United are among the prospective suitors vying for his signature.
A man in demand
AS Roma will dip into the market for a striker in the winter transfer window, as Evan Ferguson has struggled with fitness issues since arriving from Brighton & Hove Albion in the summer. Additionally, Artem Dovbyk’s long-term future is uncertain. Several strikers have thus emerged on AS Roma’s radar, with Alberto also a viable target. While the Giallorossi initially preferred a move for Joshua Zirkzee, a deal may not materialise.
Meanwhile, Yuri Alberto has been on Everton’s radar for a long time, and the continued interest makes sense. The Toffees are combing the market for a striker heading into the winter transfer window, as Beto has not been productive enough during his spell with the Merseyside outfit. So, Alberto is an option worth considering.
As for West Ham United, the East London outfit will part ways with Niclas Fullkrug in the winter transfer window. Meanwhile, Callum Wilson is on the wrong side of 30 and approaching the twilight of his career. So, Alberto has emerged as a viable target for West Ham. Meanwhile, Atletico Madrid and Sporting CP are also keen on signing the South American striker.
However, Everton, West Ham, Atletico Madrid, and Sporting CP may have fallen behind in the race to sign Alberto, with AS Roma in talks with his entourage. So, it will be interesting to see what the future holds for the 24-year-old Brazilian striker amid the Serie A club’s push for his signature.
