Marcus Rashford remains intent on Barcelona stay amid PSG links

Manchester United misfit Marcus Rashford wants to continue at Barcelona beyond this season, amidst interest from PSG.

Marcus Rashford has revived himself in some fashion since joining Barcelona on loan from Manchester United. While the Catalan giants have a buy option, his impressive performances have resulted in interest from other top clubs as well.

According to Pete O’Rourke via Football Insider, the English international remains keen on joining the Spanish club on a permanent basis. However, interest from French giants PSG could complicate matters.

The Manchester United graduate had a rift with manager Ruben Amorim, after which he was sent out on loan to Aston Villa for the second half of the 2024/25 season. While he did show a lot of promise under Unai Emery, there was no way back for him into United’s first team, as his relationship with the coach and the club had reached a stage where it was considered beyond repair.

Rashford’s revival in Spain

Marcus Rashford ended up joining Barcelona on a season-long loan in the summer, and the move has certainly worked out in his favour. With injuries to key players, the Englishman became a go-to man for Hansi Flick, and he has delivered some exceptional performances so far.

In his 19 outings, he has six goals and nine assists. The English international is loving life at Barcelona, and with him unlikely to play for United again, the 28-year-old’s top priority is to secure a permanent move to the Catalan club.

Barcelona are also keen on having him on their roster for years to come. With the Blaugrana reluctant to renew Robert Lewandowski’s contract, they have financial headroom to secure his services. A permanent transfer could be a win-win situation for all parties involved.

Will Marcus Rashford complete a permanent move to Barcelona?

While the Catalan giants are front-runners to sign him permanently, PSG are also keen on his signature, and they could make things interesting.

While speaking about Rashford’s future, O’Rourke said, “It’s been a good move for everybody involved. I think it’s been a good move for Rashford, good move for Barcelona and a good move for Manchester United as they’ve got them off the wage bill and it does seem he doesn’t have a future at Old Trafford as well.

“Despite rumours of interest from elsewhere, the likes of PSG, I think Barcelona still are in the box seat to get this deal done. I think Rashford ideally would like to join Barcelona on permanent basis as well.”

Luis Enrique is believed to be a massive admirer of the English forward, and he would love to have the player in his squad. The French giants could pounce on any opportunity to secure his services. However, they are not going to find it easy to secure his services. The only way they get their hands on the 28-year-old is if Barcelona’s financial situation doesn’t allow them to make the move permanent.
