Mikel Arteta reportedly wants Arsenal to sign 22-year-old Spanish playmaker Alberto Moleiro from La Liga club Villarreal next year.
According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Alberto Moleiro is the subject of interest from Arsenal. The Gunners are keen on reinforcing their offensive unit by signing a productive playmaker next summer. So, the 22-year-old Villarreal attacker has emerged as a target for the North London outfit.
Mikel Arteta is the driving force behind Arsenal’s move for the Spaniard, and he wants Arsenal to sign the young playmaking prospect next summer. Meanwhile, Villarreal will demand around €30 million to part ways with the highly-rated Spaniard next year.
Who is Alberto Moleiro?
Alberto Moleiro has established himself as one of the best young prospects in La Liga since joining Villarreal from UD Las Palmas in a deal worth €16 million this past summer. A native of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, the youngster spent his formative years in Spain and graduated from the youth division at UD Las Palmas. After excelling for his boyhood club’s first team, he has hit the ground running at Villarreal.
The 22-year-old has an excellent record of six goals and two assists in 14 La Liga appearances thus far in the 2025/26 season. Meanwhile, Moleiro’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs. Arsenal will be among the prospective suitors vying for the Spanish playmaker’s signature next year.
London calling?
Alberto Moleiro has been on Arsenal’s radar for a long time, and they wanted to sign him in the summer transfer window. While a move did not materialise before the youngster joined Villarreal, the continued interest is understandable. Even though Mikel Arteta has a stacked offensive unit, he can do with a long-term option on the left flank.
Several candidates, including Rodrygo Goes, have thus emerged on Arsenal’s radar, with Moleiro also a viable target. The 22-year-old Spaniard will not cost a bomb, and Mikel Arteta wants Arsenal to secure his services. Villarreal will demand around €30 million to part ways with him, making him an appealing target for the North London outfit.
While other targets may have a prohibitive price tag, Villarreal’s valuation of Moleiro makes him a lucrative prospect for Arsenal amid rumours that they need to worry about PSR. So, it will not be surprising to see the Spanish playmaker arriving at the Emirates in a deal worth €30 million next year.
