Arsenal poised to sign Edwin and Holger Quintero, deal agreed in principle

Arsenal have reportedly agreed a deal with Ecuadorian club Independiente del Valle teenagers and twins Edwin and Holger Quintero.

According to The Daily Mail, Arsenal have struck an undisclosed deal with Ecuadorian outfit Independiente del Valle for their exciting teenage talents Edwin and Holger Quintero. The Gunners have kept tabs on the highly-rated 16-year-old South American duo’s development for nearly 12 months, with the twins now set to arrive in August 2027 when they turn 18.

The youth markets are something that top clubs keep close tabs on, and they are highly active to secure some of the prodigious talents from across the world. South America is steadily becoming a hive for thriving talents for the future, with clubs there actively pushing to develop players who tend to suit the clubs in the Premier League and other European leagues.

The primary idea is to bring about a revenue stream, and on the Ecuadorian side, Independiente del Valle’s case, they have been picking up disadvantaged and promising talents to develop into future stars. They have credibility in that aspect, having developed the likes of Chelsea midfield general Moises Caicedo and Arsenal summer signing Piero Hincapie through their academy.

In terms of recent talents, they developed current Chelsea player Kendry Paez and soon-to-be Blues star Dienner Ordonez. However, there are two new kids on the block in the highly-rated 16-year-old South American duo Edwin and Holger Quintero. The two attackers are twins and are on the verge of joining Arsenal.

Edwin and Holger Quintero are not yet ready to join the club, as they will only arrive in August 2027 when they turn 18, and will sign five-year deals with the Gunners.

Who are Edwin and Holger Quintero?

Edwin and Holger Quintero are attacking players coming through at Independiente del Valle, and are already primed to be future internationals for Ecuador. Edwin is a right winger by trade, known for his intricate dribbling skills and quickness on the pitch, which has led to comparisons with a certain Neymar.

As for Holger, he also features in the attacking setup as a midfielder or No. 10, and prefers to operate centrally. The duo could shape the future of Arsenal as well as Ecuador, and currently, they are capped by their country at youth levels.
