Arsenal and Manchester United will have to fork out £60 million to bring Napoli mainstay Scott McTominay back to the Premier League.
According to a report from Caught Offside, Scott McTominay could soon have the opportunity to secure a return to the English top flight, as Arsenal and his former club, Manchester United, seem keen on his signature. Napoli are aware of the growing interest and have slapped a massive £60 million price tag.
Scott McTominay came up the ranks at Old Trafford and was a part of their first team for seven seasons before he made the move to the Naples-based club in the summer of 2024 in a deal worth £25 million.
While he was an important squad player at Manchester United, the 28-year-old was never really an undisputed starter. He eventually went down the pecking order and was then offloaded. However, things have been a lot different for him at Napoli.
The Scot established himself as one of their mainstays in no time, and he played a prominent role in the Serie A-winning campaign last time out. He ended up making 34 league appearances in his debut campaign and even contributed towards 18 goals.
While he prefers playing as a central midfielder, Scott McTominay is capable enough to feature anywhere on the pitch. He has carried his form into the new campaign, and his resurgence has resulted in interest from the Premier League.
English clubs are keen on signing McTominay
Arsenal and Manchester United are closely monitoring the 28-year-old, and they would be interested in bringing him in. The Gunners want more quality and depth in the centre of the park, and Scott McTominay could certainly be a great addition to their ranks.
Mikel Arteta believes his energy and versatility could perfectly complement Declan Rice in midfield. Meanwhile, Ruben Amorim is desperate to have more options in the centre of the park. With Casemiro and Kobbie Mainoo’s future uncertain, the Portuguese manager would love to have the Manchester United graduate back at the club.
However, Napoli have no intention of letting him leave that easily. With his contract running until 2028, the Naples-based club do have complete control over his future. They have set an asking price of £60 million, making it clear that only a substantial offer could result in his exit. The player remains happy at Napoli and is unlikely to push for a move away.
