Manchester United unlikely to pursue Daniel Munoz in January

Manchester United will unlikely launch a bid to sign 29-year-old Colombian international Daniel Munoz from Crystal Palace in the winter transfer window.

According to a report by Football Insider, Daniel Munoz is not the subject of interest from Manchester United heading into the winter transfer window. While the 29-year-old Crystal Palace wing-back recently revealed that he dreams of playing for the Red Devils, they have other priorities for the upcoming window.

Manchester United will focus on signing a midfielder and a striker in the winter transfer window if Joshua Zirkzee leaves in the coming weeks. So, a move for Munoz is not in the pipeline, and the chances of landing the Amalfi native are low.

How has Daniel Munoz fared for Crystal Palace?

Daniel Munoz has established himself as one of the most dependable full-backs/wing-backs in the Premier League since joining Crystal Palace from KRC Genk in January 2024. The 29-year-old hit the ground running at the South London club, and he has become a pivotal figure for Oliver Glasner’s team in the last two years, with the Austrian tactician bringing the best out of him.

The Colombian international has made nearly 100 appearances thus far for Crystal Palace while chipping in with eight goals and 14 assists. Munoz has been integral to the South London club’s recent success, and his progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs. The South American wide player recently expressed his desire to play for Manchester United.

Move across the Premier League on the cards?

Manchester United can do with a player like Daniel Munoz, who dreams of representing the Red Devils. While Amad Diallo has been impressive under Ruben Amorim, Diogo Dalot has not been consistent enough. So, Manchester United should dip into the market for a new right wing-back.

However, the Premier League bigwigs have no bandwidth for a wing-back heading into the winter transfer window. Manchester United would prefer to sign a midfielder in the coming weeks, while Joshua Zirkzee’s potential departure may force them to sign a striker.

A winter move for Munoz may not have been possible anyway, as recent reports have claimed that Crystal Palace will not entertain bids to part ways with the player in January. However, it will be interesting to see if the 29-year-old Colombian international becomes a target for Manchester United next summer.
