Serie A giants AC Milan and Inter Milan have reportedly been offered the chance to sign Leeds United outcast Illan Meslier.
According to a report from Inter Live, Illan Meslier could be heading to Serie A, as the Leeds United outcast has been offered to AC Milan and Inter Milan. Both Serie A giants are on the lookout for a new shot-stopper, and the French goalkeeper could be an interesting option for them.
Meslier came up the ranks at FC Lorient, and on the back of an impressive season with their first team, Leeds United secured his services in the summer of 2019. While he completed an initial loan move, it was made permanent in the subsequent summer transfer window.
The 25-year-old was an instant hit at the Yorkshire-based club, and he became a regular feature in their XI in no time. Over the years, Meslier has featured in 214 matches for them, and he has kept 72 clean sheets.
While the 1.97m tall goalkeeper had an impressive start to life at Leeds United and has been a prominent figure under Daniel Farke, he lost his place in the team towards the end of last season. Meslier looks surplus to requirements and has not featured in a single game this season.
With the Frenchman’s contract running out at the end of the season, Leeds United are looking to get him off their books. The Whites do not want to lose out on him for free, and they are hoping to cash in on him in the winter window. Super agent Pini Zahavi is working hard to get him out of Leeds United as early as January.
Italian giants could battle for Meslier
With Leeds United pushing to offload Illan meslier, there is a high possibility of a winter window. Inter Milan and AC Milan have been linked with the 25-year-old, as Pini Zahavi seems to have offered them the chance to sign the French goalkeeper.
Inter Milan are looking to prepare for life without Yann Sommer. The 36-year-old shot-stopper’s contract runs out at the end of the season, and he could end up leaving the club. With Josep Martinez unable to make the most out of his limited opportunities, the Nerazzurri are looking for a new goalkeeper, and Meslier could be an interesting option.
He has also been offered to AC Milan, who are gearing up for the potential departure of Mike Maignan. The French international looks set for a move away, and the club are looking for an ideal replacement. The 25-year-old has not had the best of times at Leeds United in recent months, but he can certainly prove to be a valuable addition to Milan’s first team.
