Manchester United have no chance of recalling Rasmus Hojlund from Napoli loan

Manchester United reportedly cannot recall Rasmus Hojlund from his Napoli loan despite Benjamin Sesko’s recent injury.

Manchester United suffered a massive blow against Tottenham on Saturday as Benjamin Sesko picked up a knee injury. The Slovenian international could be sidelined for a long time, and Ruben Amorim’s team could be forced to sign a new forward in the upcoming winter transfer window. However, the situation could have been better had they not offloaded Rasmus Hojlund.

Meanwhile, reports have suggested the Red Devils were already looking to sign a new forward to provide competition to Sesko, as Joshua Zirkzee looks set for a move away from the club after struggling to get game time under Ruben Amorim. Following Sesko’s injury, signing a new striker might just become a necessity.

With the Slovenian striker out injured, could Manchester United look to recall Rasmus Hojlund from Napoli? They would certainly love to have that option, but according to a report from the Daily Star, the Red Devils do not have a recall clause in his loan contract. As a result, they won’t be able to bring him back even if they want to.

Napoli have a purchase option in Hojlund deal

Rasmus Hojlund remains a Manchester United player, and his contract at Old Trafford runs until 2029. However, he is currently on loan at Napoli after two disappointing campaigns in the Premier League. While it is only a season-long loan, the Partenopei do have a buy option worth £38 million that can be triggered at the end of the season.

The purchase option could become an obligation depending on certain conditions. If reports are to be believed, qualifying for the UEFA Champions League will be enough to make the move permanent.

The 22-year-old striker has had an impressive start to life at the Serie A club. Rasmus Hojlund has found the back of the net on four occasions in his 10 outings. Given the Dane’s form, Manchester United would have loved to have him back. Since that is not possible, it will be interesting to see which striker they go after.
