Liverpool were very active during the summer transfer window, and they have brought in multiple key players.
Despite what was thought to be a spectacular summer transfer window, Liverpool have started the season poorly, and it is clear that they need more reinforcements. The Reds will need to improve the defensive unit, especially with the way they have defended so far. In addition, Ibrahima Konate may leave the club as a free agent at the end of the season.
However, a report from TEAMtalk has claimed that Liverpool are not planning any major signings in January. The development will come as a blow for Liverpool fans. They will be hoping that the club can improve in the coming months.
Liverpool need quality additions
There is no doubt that Liverpool have a quality team. However, they need more depth in the defensive unit. Ideally, they should look to bring in a wide player as well. The Premier League champions have looked quite predictable going forward and a quality winger could make a big difference for them in the final third.
They have been heavily linked with Antoine Semenyo from Bournemouth. The Ghanaian internatioanl has started the 2025/26 season well for the Cherries, and he could prove to be an excellent acquisition for Liverpool.
Meanwhile, Liverpool need to improve defensively as well. They need to find a quality long-term replacement for Konate. The Reds have been heavily linked with Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace. The defender was close to joining Liverpool during the summer transfer window, but Crystal Palace pulled the plug on the move at the last moment.
It will be interesting to see if Liverpool decide to revive their move for the 25-year-old England international in January. A club of their stature is expected to fight for the Premier League title and the UEFA Champions League.
So, the Merseyside outfit must look to plug the weaknesses in their side during the winter transfer window if they want to do well. With that said, signing top-class players in January can be quite difficult. Clubs will not want to sell their best players in the middle of the season.
