Aston Villa rival Tottenham, West Ham United, Barcelona in Mason Greenwood chase

Aston Villa are set to battle Tottenham, West Ham United, and Barcelona for the signing of Marseille mainstay Mason Greenwood.

According to Ekrem Konur, Aston Villa, Tottenham, West Ham United, and Barcelona are all keen on acquiring the services of Mason Greenwood, who has revived his career since joining Marseille. While the Ligue 1 giants would prefer to have him around, they are open to a potential departure in case of a significant financial offer.

Greenwood got his career back on track with a loan spell at Getafe. Following his impressive performances in Spain, Marseille struck a deal with Manchester United to sign the 24-year-old forward during the summer of 2024.

The former Manchester United prodigy had a decent debut campaign in Ligue 1 and seems to have taken his game to the next level this season. The young right winger has been involved in 12 games across competitions, and he has contributed towards 12 goals (8 goals, 4 assists).

Mason Greenwood’s impressive performances have once again caught the attention of some of the biggest clubs in Europe. The 24-year-old is finally beginning to fulfil his immense potential, and several top sides are now keen to secure his signature.

European giants to battle for Greenwood

Aston Villa and West Ham United have been keeping tabs on the Manchester United graduate for some time. Both clubs seek more quality in the final third and feel the versatile English forward can help their cause. While Mason Greenwood prefers playing out wide on the right, he could even start as a number nine.

Tottenham have also entered the race for his signature, as Thomas Frank seeks more quality in the final third, with things yet to click for Dominic Solanke at the North London club. Barcelona are also in the mix as they look to further bolster their attack.

While the Blaugrana already have a lot of quality on the flanks, Greenwood could end up being an x-factor player for them. He could cover for Lamine Yamal and also help them cope with the potential departure of Robert Lewandowski.

Mason Greenwood’s contract at the Ligue 1 club runs until the summer of 2029, and Marseille are not really keen on letting him leave. However, they are open to talks if there is a decent offer on the table.
