Manchester United are interested in an ambitious move for Premier League midfield sensations Carlos Baleba and Adam Wharton, with a nine-figure price being mooted.
According to United in Focus, Manchester United are aware of the nine-figure valuations for both Carlos Baleba and Adam Wharton. The Red Devils are prepared to make moves for both Premier League midfield sensations in phases, which could see them attempt an approach for one of those in the January window.
Central midfield is the biggest area of improvement for Manchester United ahead of future transfer windows. The Red Devils were heavily interested in Carlos Baleba during the summer, but Brighton’s lack of interest in even considering offers for their midfield sensation ended any hopes of a move.
Manchester United will pursue Baleba in January or most probably next summer, as he remains a firm contender for their midfield. Currently, Ruben Amorim faces plenty of challenges to get his midfield options up and running, especially as Manuel Ugarte continued his underwhelming form, while the future of Kobbie Mainoo is still under a considerable cloud of doubt.
Hence, the club are considering a big spend on central midfielders, probably not in one window. Brighton are not likely to sell Baleba in January, which could see Manchester United pivot towards Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton.
The Eagles are also likely to take up a similar stance to Brighton and are likely to keep hold of Wharton. Manchester United are intent on signing both Premier League midfield sensations, and even if they could fail for both ahead of the January window, they are still widely expected to attempt a move in some capacity.
Manchester United are aware of the nine-figure price point
Manchester United considers the valuations of the Premier League midfield sensations in the region of £50-60 million, but are aware that they would cost nine-figure sums. They had considered a £60 million move for Wharton, although there’s no chance for Palace to sell their star man in that price range.
There’s also big competition in place for Wharton, and the same could be said about Baleba next summer. The biggest threat for Manchester United in the race for the Premier League midfield sensations is the presence of Champions League teams, particularly if the Red Devils themselves fail to qualify for the premier European competition next season.
