David Raya set to sign £150,000-a-week contract at Arsenal

David Raya has received a 50 per cent pay rise with his latest contract, and the 30-year-old Spanish international will sign a deal with £150,000-a-week wages.

According to a report by TEAMtalk, David Raya is on the cusp of signing a new contract with Arsenal. The Spanish international has “finalised a deal that has aligned his wages with most of the Premier League’s top goalkeepers” at around £150,000 per week. He currently pockets a £100,000-a-week salary, and only Gianluigi Donnarumma makes more among Premier League shot-stoppers.

David Raya and his time at Arsenal so far

David Raya has established himself as one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League since joining Arsenal from Brentford. The Spaniard has been in England since July 2012, and he graduated from the youth division at Blackburn Rovers. However, he rose in prominence during his productive spell with Brentford.

Meanwhile, Arsenal initially signed Raya on a season-long loan deal in August 2023 before completing a permanent move worth around £27 million 12 months later. The 30-year-old has made considerable progress in the last two years, winning the Premier League Golden Glove in each season he has spent with the North London club.

The Spanish international has made over 100 appearances thus far for Arsenal while keeping 45 clean sheets and conceding only 84 goals. Meanwhile, Raya’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several European bigwigs. However, he will commit his long-term future to Arsenal.

What next?

Recent reports have linked David Raya with Real Madrid. However, the former Brentford shot-stopper has no interest in parting ways with Arsenal, and he has already finalised a new contract with the North London club. The deal will give him a 50 per cent pay rise on his current £100,000-a-week wages.

The report has revealed that Raya’s new contract “aligns his wages with most of the Premier League’s top goalkeepers” at around £150,000 per week. With the 30-year-old Spaniard’s current deal giving him a £100,000-a-week salary, he will get a 50 per cent pay rise.

These wages will leave him behind only Gianluigi Donnarumma, with the Italian international earning hefty wages at Manchester City. With Arsenal’s contract talks with Raya concluding, he will soon officially commit his long-term future to the North London club.
