Brentford set to block winter bids for Nathan Collins

West Ham United vs Brentford: Preview and Prediction ahead of their Premier League clash on Monday night in the English top flight.

Brentford will not entertain any bids to part ways with 24-year-old Irish defender Nathan Collins in the winter transfer window amid his links with Tottenham Hotspur.

According to a report by TEAMtalk, Nathan Collins is the subject of interest of Tottenham Hotspur. The Lilywhites are keen on reinforcing their defensive unit by signing a centre-back next year. So, the 24-year-old Brentford captain is a target for the North London club.

However, convincing the West London club to part ways with the Irishman will be a tall order, as the Bees are not interested in entertaining any bids for him. So, Tottenham must either wait until the summer transfer window to land Collins or identify an alternative for January.

Nathan Collins and his rising stock

Nathan Collins has been one of the most impressive young defenders in the Premier League since joining Brentford from Wolverhampton Wanderers in a deal worth £23 million in July 2023. The 24-year-old has made considerable progress in the last two years, having been a mainstay at the back for his club and country. He has also earned the status of Brentford’s captain.

Collins has made nearly 100 appearances thus far for the Bees while chipping in with four goals and six assists. Meanwhile, the Irish defender’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several Premier League clubs. Tottenham Hotspur will be among the prospective suitors vying for his signature next year.

London calling?

Tottenham Hotspur wanted to sign Nathan Collins in the summer transfer window, but the deal did not materialise. However, the North London club’s interest has not waned, as the Lilywhites are in a spot of bother over the long-term futures of Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven.

Additionally, Radu Dragusin’s long-term future is uncertain, as he has failed to establish himself as a first-choice starter for Tottenham since arriving from Genoa. So, Collins remains a target for the 2024/25 UEFA Europa League winners. However, a winter move will not materialise, as Brentford will not cash in on the 24-year-old Irishman.

The Bees are keen on keeping hold of their club captain, and they will not entertain any bids to part ways with him in the winter transfer window. So, it will be interesting to see if any centre-back bolsters Tottenham’s defensive unit in the coming weeks.
